LOLA BERRY

Trailblazing #steeleGIRL Lola Berry, an Australian author, presenter and nutritionist.

Her warm sensibility and contagious lust for life inspires us to positively approach health and wellbeing.

We recently spoke to Lola about how she got to where she is today, what keeps her balanced and what lies ahead.

A TYPICAL DAY IS…

Never the same, I try to make sure it somehow involves spending time in mother nature. I’m often either recipe testing for a book, writing or shooting. I love the creative side of my job, so photo shoots are always fun for me! I work in TV and radio too, so some days I will be filming and recording. I love the energy of these mediums and the potentially of my message reaching lots of souls!

I GOT TO WHERE I AM TODAY…

With a goal to inspire others and myself through living a healthy lifestyle. I wasn’t always a ‘health nerd’, I used to be a DJ. I was dating my DJ teacher and saw his passion for his profession, I knew I wanted to feel that too! I kept searching for that ‘thing’ that made time stand still for me, and that’s when I found nutrition (or perhaps it found me…).

MY ADVICE FOR THOSE WANTING TO IMPORVE THEIR HEALTH AND WELLBEING IS…

Start to listen to your body, it knows best. Try to tap into how you’re feeling. When goals are directed toward feeling good instead of wanting to look a certain way, that’s where the magic lies.

I KEEP BALANCED BY…

Fuelling my mind and body with nutritious whole foods. To be honest, I drop the ball from time to time, some weeks I am super healthy and others I fall off the wagon. I find yoga helpful, it balances out my mind and I feel more connected to myself.

THE BEST ADVICE I’VE RECEIVED WAS…

“Keep kicking goals, girl”, from my Dad when I was 21 and moving interstate. It has stayed with me, if I ever feel down I think of that card and get back to the dream, keep kicking goals.

MY PERSONAL STYLE IS…

To feel free! I love whimsical styling, but am also partial to quirky pieces. I’ll team a frock with a pair of kicks. I don’t stick to any rules, I just go with what feels good.

MY GO-TO RECIPE AT THE MOMENT IS…

From my Summer Book, it’s called the Empower Me Salad. It’s made of rocket, baby spinach, avocado, chia seeds and cherry toms (my word for tomato), pomegranate seeds, pepitas, macadamia nut oil and apple cider vinegar.

MY GUILTY PLEASURE IS…

Raw vegan caramel slice. I have a massive sweet tooth, so I love to make healthy alternatives of naughty treats.

IN 2017 YOU’LL FIND ME…

Working on my next two books, filming new projects and looking to expand my Happy Place to new locations… Sydney, then LA.
